The presence of the
pregnant woman in the dental practice during the
first months of pregnancy is a particularly
important aspect for the prophylaxis of oral-dental
diseases in pregnant women. In order to familiarize
the pregnant woman with dental check-up
examinations, motivational mechanisms may be
addressed. The need to change habits and behaviours
is obvious and it implies a profound motivation.
This is achieved by a personal professional endeavor
from the part of the dentist, as well as by the use
of specific informative materials offered to the
pregnant woman as early as possible.
Most oral-dental
diseases may be prevented by fighting the causes.
This is why practicing oral-dental hygiene is
primordial and it must become a habit.
